Hi Friends!
I'm Matthew (he/him), an administrator, educator, and creative based in Kansas City, Missouri. Growing up in Smithville, MO, I caught the performing bug young, making my debut on my parent's fireplace. I seek to inspire, enlighten, and engage students and community members with the arts.
In 2020, I graduated from the University of Central Missouri with a B.S.E. in Speech Communication and Theatre Education. Outside of the classroom, I spent time as an Actor, Student Administrator, Stage Manager, Director, and Technician. I also facilitated the UCM Theatre and Dance annual high school and middle school workshop days. While at UCM, I was a student leader and member of university organizations including Dr. Ed See's Student Teachers, Theta Alpha Phi, and the UCM Talking Mules, along with professional organizations including the Speech and Theatre Association of Missouri, United States Institute for Theatre Technology, and the National Honor Society for Dance Arts.
Outside of the university, I joined the Development, Marketing, Education, and Artistic teams of several organizations, including Unicorn Theatre, Omaha Theatre Company (Rose Theatre), Starlight Theater, and the Coterie Theatre. Most recently, I joined Crane River Theater Company as their Volunteer Coordinator and Education Director, developing Creative Drama and Theatre curriculum for students across Central Nebraska.
Nowadays, I am back in KC, baby! In August of 2021, I joined the team at the historic Folly Theater as a Development Associate coordinating fundraising efforts, planning events, and aiding the artistic and cultural growth of my community.
